Introduction of The Towns of Region Most-South Association

The Towns of Region Most-South Association was held in 9th November 1999 by the assignation of Foundation Agreement and Articles of Corporation. In that time the constituent members were: Malé Březno, Havraň, Lišnice, Polerady Volevčice and Bečov. The association’s name was taken from the geographical location of these towns thus its cadastral area creates the south board of region Most.

This association was in April 2001, in accordance with the law No.128/2000 “about municipalities”, transformed into Voluntary Union of Towns and accepted the joining of community called Strupčice which is situated in south-east part of Chomutov region.

The beginning of Association was motivated by strengthening integrating tendencies from the side of state authorities and on the other hand by the effort of propagation of this micro region in the relationship to rising higher territorial local government units.

Thus the towns came along about searching the collective ways to solute the important development needs of this micro region. The Association territory is from the historical point of view the territory where the agriculture always dominated as a source of living. By the gradual development of coal mining in regions Most and Chomutov – mainly in its extensive period – became the situation that some towns had to be destroyed due to mining and the citizens of these towns and other communities were moved into big cities, and had to search new jobs in the places except their permanent residence.

This situation means, together with the misfortunate industry structuralization in region Most, the town’s depopulation. In the rest of the town into which was not invested for long years, in these days live only about 11 pre cent from the whole amount of regional citizens, which is also the consequence of this situation. In addition on the most of the territory is protected exclusive brown coal deposit which affects for example housing fund.

With the effort of charting all existing positives and negatives in the towns mainly with the perspective into future the mayors of town members let work up with the EU financial support the “Development Most – South Strategy”. This document is in its essence the basic document for other towns’ development planning in the fields of infrastructure, housing fund build-up and renewal, entrepreneur activity support, new job creation, transport, sport and cultural facilities, and so on. The target of all these activities is the effort to press back the attractive mark in this territory, to release it of “moon country” attribute and all these for the people who have the reason to build new family houses, to ground on families, to run their trades and crafts, to say with pride: “Here is my home, here I live”.
