The first written refer of Polerady dates back to the year 1250, when the king Wenceslaw I. gifted a part of a village to the nunnery in Osek. The community was still changing its owner within the time period from the 14 to the 17 century. As late as in the year 1692 it was given to the property of the family of Schwarzenberg, during whose reign discovery and consequent exploitation of brown coal occured. Mining became the main source of sustenance of inha-bitants, besides agriculture. The community became municipal in the year 1890.
